The difference between All-on-4 and All-on-6 is not simply two extra implants. The treatment is a complete restorative system: implant positions, bone, prosthetic space, bite, cleaning access, temporary teeth and the definitive bridge must work together.

Why four implants may be selected

Four implants can support a full arch in appropriately planned cases and may use available bone strategically. This does not make the approach minimal risk or suitable for every jaw.

Why six implants may be selected

Six positions may distribute support differently or provide restorative options where anatomy permits. More implants also require suitable bone and do not correct a poor prosthetic design.

Immediate loading

A provisional fixed bridge may be fitted soon after surgery only when stability and other criteria are met. Patients should understand the diet, cleaning and repair limitations of the provisional phase.

Definitive bridge choices

Zirconia, metal-acrylic, titanium-composite and other designs have different space, weight, wear and repair characteristics. Ask why a material is recommended for your bite and opposing teeth.

Maintenance is lifelong

Cleaning beneath the bridge, professional reviews, screw and component checks, bite monitoring and control of smoking or grinding risk remain necessary.

Next step

If you are considering treatment, share your concerns, photographs and available dental records for a preliminary review. Final diagnosis and treatment planning require clinical examination.
